Rehabilitation, Movement Therapy, and Pilates

Tanya Houpt, owner of Insite Therapy, has over 35 years of experience in health and fitness, corrective exercise, rehabilitation, and Pilates.  Preventing or delaying surgeries, enabling a reduction or cessation of medication, empowering clients to self-manage their conditions, and watching the progress of group session participants, is all the motivation Tanya needs to provide world-class healing.

Tanya says, “most musculoskeletal issues arise due to maladapted postures and not moving correctly”. Postural issues are not unique to older populations. Major postural issues are being seen in our younger generation. Necks, shoulders, and backs are being severely compromised and it won’t be long before our young are ‘old’!

Move it or lose it…well, move it correctly or lose it. Yes, you can take medication, stop doing what hurts, miss out on sports and activities, or let the garden run riot, but why should you? With our life expectancy increasing, I am an advocate for natural, sustained, healthy ageing, and optimising physical function to your full potential. The most sustainable, low-risk way to continue doing what you enjoy is through corrective exercise.

Treat the person, not the condition. My clients receive all the ‘Insite’ and tools they need to self-manage their bodies, thereby enabling them to participate in activities they consider important in life. This aligns with my firm belief in a positive psychology approach to rehabilitation; finding what is right and increasing it!

All clients attend an initial consultation and Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) assessment. Once assessed, there are options for Movement Therapy and Movement Maintenance. Many clients also enjoy a group setting for maintenance and join our Pilates sessions.

Movement Therapy; Initial Consultation for Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder

55mins
$145

Specially tailored for patients with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder

Having a client present in 2021 with hEDS, Tanya realised she didn't know how to help her client, who needed so much more than traditional physical therapy.   This started her learning journey with this condition through ECHO EDS. Having completed the Integrated Movement Method course (IMM) and attending many online ECHO EDS workshop and presentations, she has also adopted an integrated method approach.  A major focus is on encouraging the nervous system to 'be quiet', playing with movements that feel good to do and have sustainable benefits.

  • Overview and assessment, including your goals and needs. Prescribed movement and exercises are recorded during each session.

  • Academic research undertaken to ensure best evidence-based therapy for treatment.
