Physical Rehabilitation and Maintenance of Musculoskeletal Conditions

Tanya Houpt, owner of Insite, has many years of experience in the exercise and sport sector and is continuing to study in the field of rehabilitation. She uses clinical Pilates, which is the prescription of Pilates exercises, to treat musculoskeletal conditions. She also researches conditions to find the best practise and evidenced based research.

Tanya believes the principles of Pilates are timeless and perfect for treating musculoskeletal conditions. This clinical use of Pilates can only done with relevant qualifications, not a recreational Pilates Instructor. All treatment for rehabilitation is based on evidenced based research and is specific to the client, there is no generic exercise plan given

Tanya says, “Our population is getting older and I am a big believer in healthy-ageing! My philosophy is using exercise to optimise physical function, and when injured, to restore to ones’ full potential. I give my clients all the ‘Insite’ and tools they need to self-manage, thereby enabling them to participate in the things they consider important in life. This aligns with my firm belief in a positive psychology rehabilitation approach; finding what is right and increasing it! It is so important to look at the whole person, rather than just their health condition therefore a biopsychosocial model is used. I use a patient-centred care approach, treating each client, as the unique person they are.”
